It's that time of year again... When everyone is bumbling around trying to find that perfect gift for their kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews... Poor Lorena, went to Wal-Mart today and witnessed the greed that this holiday forces out. She was walking along and saw people taking things from another person's basket, with a kid in it. What the fuck??? THERE WAS A KID IN THERE!!! It was not abandoned... Fuckin' idiots...She went to the electronics department to find that one item Brianna wanted most and there was a line just to get in there... Yes, I realize that these idiots waited till the last minute to get that Xbox 360 or the iPod, but damn they could have ordered it online months ago and had it by now. Why do retailers do this? They wait till the week before Christmas (Ugh, I can't stand that word) to drop the prices to entice people to run like lemmings over the cliff... I remember when Cabbage Patch Kids came out and the frenzy that it caused...

What happened to The Spirit of Christmas? I got to thinking about that... Before Coca Cola got their hands on Santa, it was a good story... A nice old man spreading cheer and goodwill... Since the 1940's it's all been about the mighty fucking dollar.

Christmas seems like a good idea on paper, but it just does not do it for me anymore... I was trying to think of my happiest Christmas as a kid and I could not pick one. There were good times, but not one standout. I can remember the whole family gathered around and us kids ripping through wrapping paper to see what goodies we had waiting for us. Hell, even a couple of years, Larry & I had already opened the packages, played the Atari games and re-wrapped them... One good memory of Christmas that I have is watching Brianna's face when she opens her presents. She got a TV one year and when she saw what was in the box, she actually fell over (drama queen that she is)...

Look, I am not saying that they need to do away with Christmas, just re-think how they do things... Instead of lowering prices the closer it gets, try raising prices to get people to do there shopping earlier. I for one would be lured in 3 months before for 25% off on that new Xbox game or iDog (accessory for an mp3 player)... Reward the early shoppers...

Remember, you clicked the link for this so don't bitch to me if you don't like MY OPINION...
